Unprofessional, pushy, and just looking for ways to charge extra I visited today wanting to hire one of your self‑drive boats. I explained clearly I have 40–60 hours’ experience driving this... read more exact size of six‑seater vessel, plus years working on the sea – 40 to 60 hours experience is more than enough for this kind of vessel in the Mediterranean Sea. Over that time I have had to handle different winds, tides and all other conditions you get out on the water – I know exactly what I am doing. There is nothing on your website stating how many hours count as reasonable or required, so this was just made up on the spot. I am mature, fully aware of how these waters work, and completely confident handling the boat safely for my family. The young staff member with tattoos immediately focused only on the fact I had children with me. He came up with every excuse he possibly could to try and force me to pay extra for a skipper. He told me straight away he would only let me take the boat if I paid for one of your skippers to come along, claiming I could “take a turn driving sometimes” – which is not what I wanted or came for. He even tried to say I would probably need help with anchoring – seriously, that was just another obvious excuse he tried to pull over my eyes. He completely ignored that I had another adult with me – so having my family there was never going to be an issue at all. When I asked him how old he thought I was, he said “early 30s” – he had absolutely no idea I am in my mid‑40s, fully educated, and have plenty of experience. He clearly had no idea I am fully Maltese, just with a strong English accent, and treated me like some tourist he could take advantage of. I felt discriminated against purely because I had a family with me – in my opinion this was clear discrimination. His attitude was rude, patronising and dismissive. He wasn’t listening to me – he was just looking for any reason to get more money out of me. Safety matters, but this had nothing to do with safety – it was purely about pushing extra charges on someone he assumed wouldn’t know any better. I highly recommend Oh Yeah better customer service and a better experience
